THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE TEAMS WHO ATTENDED THE 2008 PITTSBURGH REGIONAL!

We had a blast hosting you and we hope you had a great time too. Below you will find a list of our winners. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

2008 Pittsburgh Regional Winners

2008 Pittsburgh Regional Woodie Flowers Finalist Award

The Woodie Flowers Award celebrates effective communication in the art and science of engineering and design. In 2008 FIRST will recognize one adult team mentor at each of the 41 regional competitions as a Woodie Flowers Finalist Award winner. At the FIRST Championship, the essays of this year's finalists will be combined with previous finalists. One mentor will receive the Championship Woodie Flowers Award.

Pittsburgh and their FIRST teams have a lot to be proud of and a lot of mentors that their students want to thank. You made our choice very difficult, but truly inspiring. The words you used to describe your mentors told us how deeply you appreciate their dedication to your teams and to your success in life.

You told us how your mentors took charge of your teams, then gradually allowed you to grow into leadership roles. You told us that this empowered you, and that you were ready to take on more and more. One such team grew to the point where they were “driving the team”. Their mentor did not sit back, he started FLL teams in seventeen elementary and middle schools! He also fund raises and helped start another FRC team.

The students on this team are inspired by this man and they have inspired us to name Mr. Mike Hayes of Team #291 as winner of the Pittsburgh Regional Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. Congratulations Mike!
