The Robotics Academy website is a resource you can mine to find extensive information, activities, and lessons for use in teaching students about robotics.
FLL Coaches
Click to navigate to our LEGO Mindstorms content. You will find teacher training resources, curriculum, competitions that you can host at your site to prepare your team, instructions to build a basic platform, and programming examples, as well as lots of other LEGO resources. If you haven't used LEGO for a while, prepare to have 'Hard Fun'. (Nothing that is too easy is really fun.)
VEX and FRC Coaches
We’ve posted extensive Vex material for you to use and review. Navigate to our VEX section to access it. The two largest resources can be found by launching our VEX Curriculum or visiting the Teaching ROBOTC for VEX link, where the training material is for ROBOTC. Reviews are lauding ROBOTC as the best programming language available for VEX robots.
Coaches should be particularly aware of the Academy Coaches Training sessions which take place as a prelude to competitions. These can be found by frequently visiting our Events page links.
Homeschool parents
We recently developed a homeschool product in cooperation with LEGO Education North America. Currently, the product is for Windows PC's only and is not Mac compatible. Its content mirrors the Academy's Introduction to Mobile Robotics' - Robotics Engineering. It is designed to be used with the LEGO NXT programming platform.
You can preview the content of this product here. (Teacher content is NOT included with this CD-Rom: Teacher Content is accessible by clicking to www.NXTeacher.com.) You can purchase this product at our Robotics Store. (This product is not intended for traditional classrooms and is not MAC compatible.)
