UNIT 8 – Anytime Activities

In Unit 8, you will survey the Anytime Activities in the Introduction to Robotics CD. The Anytime Activities, as the name implies, can be used at your convenience instead of being part of a sequenced curriculum. In the "Hello! My Name Is..." Activity, students are asked to use the NXT's ability to transmit sounds, text and pictures to convey emotions. The "Full Stop" Activity challenges students to use the programming capability called multitasking to design and program a working E-stop (emergency stop button) for their robot. The "Ramp it Up" Activity explores the up and down axis of robot motion (other motion planning activites tend to focus on forward/backward and left/right), and uses this dimension to give students a hands-on understanding of the concept of center of mass.
